Cooper, Barton & Cooper attorneys Ken Barton and Devlin Cooper, along with their co-counsel, have been named 'Legal Lions of the Week' by Law360 following their success in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit on behalf of a Houston County Sheriff's Deputy seeking equal access to benefits of her employment.

On May 13th, a split panel of the Eleventh Circuit affirmed a ruling in favor of Sgt. Anna Lange, an investigator with the Houston County Sheriff's Office who challenged her employer's health insurance plan that refused to pay for gender affirming medical care. The appellate court's decision keeps in place an injunction issued by the federal court in Macon, Georgia preventing the county from enforcing its discriminatory healthcare exclusion.
